UofSC is an amazing school in the south! It’s most known for its business program, as well as being the states best health sciences and research based college. Students are offered exceptional research opportunity, a beautiful campus to call home, and it’s located in the heart of Columbia. Many students participate in greek life and find great friends through that, but there are also countless clubs and community service groups to get involved in as well! Overall, students possess a great balance between social life and studying. The best time of year is fall, when you can watch the gamecocks on Saturday’s in South Carolina.
University of South Carolina has been my home for the last three years. I will say that while there is a mixture of diversity, it is difficult to find a sense of community with peers unless you are a part of greek life. The advisors here try their hardest to be of help, but it does seem as though they are a bit understaffed and can therefore let requests slip under the rug. I think that the professors and academia here are a hit or miss; they are either really good or really bad. Of course, you can always expect to have a good time with the Cocks! The local area and student life is always something to look forward to and partying is a must. It depends on where you live, but safety varies among place to place. Just remember to study hard and spurs up!
