Who is Morbius?
As fans see in the clip, Morbius is a doctor—a biochemist, in fact, with a specialty in hematology, which is quite fitting when he turns into a creature that must survive on blood. Growing up in Greece, he suffered a lonely, isolated childhood due to the fragility that his disease caused and turned to science to find a cure. Dr.Morbius spent years trying to cure himself and the others affected by the rare blood disorder.
Dr. Morbius is one of the world’s foremost experts on biochemistry and blood-related diseases. His expertise enables him to create an antidote for his victims, curing them of their pseudo-vampirism, though the cure does not work on himself. Morbius sometimes wears protective leather bodysuits. Morbius’ true identity is of an award-winning biochemist called Dr Michael Morbius, who suffers from a rare blood disease and tries his hand at an experimental treatment. It goes terribly wrong and he gets pseudo-vampiric abilities and the craving for human blood. He tries to use vampire bat DNA, and becomes a monstrous creature of the night.
So, with all that in mind, here is everything that we know about Morbius. Nobel Prize-winning biochemist Dr. Michael Morbius creates a cure for his rare blood disease that turns into a curse! Attempting an experimental treatment, he transforms into Morbius–a pseudo-vampire with superhuman powers and an overwhelming bloodlust. Like a real vampire, Morbius needs to drink blood to survive. However, after drinking his victim’s blood, his mind returns to normal, and he becomes fraught with guilt, remorse, and self-loathing.
For most of “Morbius,” it’s tough to tell if the titular character is a hero or a villain, which is largely the point. At heart, Morbius is an antihero, and he oscillates wildly between the dark and the light throughout the film. In his very first scene as a vampire, he slaughters a whole crew full of people. The film tries to whitewash this killing spree a bit by painting the victims as immoral mercenaries, but that doesn’t really absolve Morbius of guilt. After all, he’s the one who loses control on their boat, and they only start attacking him after he comes for them.
Unfortunately, Morbius isn’t your average Edward Cullen or Lestat De Lioncourt (sorry ladies!). Think less pretty boy and more pretty damn scary. Now, living as a pseudo-vampire with superhuman abilities and ravenous bloodlust, Morbius has to meet more challenges than bargained for. Since his transformation has roots in science rather than the supernatural, Morbius is immune to anti-vampire wards like garlic, holy water, or religious artifacts. But his insatiable bloodlust does come with feverish hunger pangs. The longer Morbius goes without blood, the weaker he gets, affecting his physical and mental state.

When Morbius first transformed into a Living Vampire, he was consumed by bloodlust, killing the crew of a ship to sate his cravings. Morbius and Spider-Man first encountered each other at Curt Conner’s beach house when both were trying to cure their respective afflictions (Spidey had six arms at the time). The two battled when they first met and multiple other times as Morbius sought Spider-Man’s radioactive blood, which sustained him for long periods and even temporarily cured his condition. In his quest for a cure and because of his need to consume the blood of human innocents to stay alive, Morbius has run afoul of multiple heroes. In addition to his run-ins with Spider-Man, he has also battled members of the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.
What to Expect from the Morbius Movie
Marvel fans, get ready for a movie that’s going to suck — well, hopefully only figuratively. Morbius will be the third entry into Sony’s Spider-Man Universe of films, following Venom and its sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The film will star Jared Leto as the titular doctor-turned-living vampire Michael Morbius and is joined by Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, and Jared Harris as Milo Morbius, Martine Bancroft, and Dr. Emil Nicholas respectively.
See how it all plays out by seeing Morbius for yourself, exclusively in theaters now! So how does the film portray him? According to the official synopsis of the film, the story will explore this internal struggle by posing the question, “Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?” We can expect the tone of this film to be much darker and more complex than most other Marvel films thus far, and Morbius’ storyline will center around his constant conflict between the good and evil within himself.
From the teaser released nearly two years ago – and the trailer that dropped on November 2 (see above) – it appears the character will try to use a more direct form of vampirism to cure his disease, and he’ll suffer from the same ill effects. In the new trailer, Morbius explicitly mentions enhanced strength, speed, and “some form of bat radar” as some of the powers granted to him, and we watch him discover he can fly. It remains to be seen, though, if he will use his abilities to be an ally of good, a villain in the grander scheme, or someone like Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) – a reluctant member of a growing band of anti-heroes. The 2021 trailer heavily implies Morbius will wrestle with that very question, as it claims the film will blur the line between hero and villain.

What’s the Ending of the Morbius Movie?
Morbius Movie made its underwhelming appearance in theaters on April 1st, 2022. The long-delayed movie left much to be desired, as it proved to be a tale that didn’t really need to be told. And Morbius‘ ending is a very, very clumsy attempt to tie up a jumbled film plot. A large portion of the ending is taken up by a confusing CGI fight scene and then abruptly ends with only vague hints as to what actually happened.
The film ends with Morbius leaving a revived Martine behind on a rooftop, flying off into the night sky. He remains a fugitive accused of murders that Milo actually committed. As Morbius flies toward the camera the screen cuts to the movie’s purplish logo. But there’s still more story left to tell… The end-credits scene for Morbius Movie is perhaps the most confusing post-credits scene produced by a superhero movie yet. Characters are hopping between multiverses. Good guys are turning into villains. There’s a lot to unpack.

To summarize, Morbius ends with Milo dying, Bancroft coming back to life as a vampire, and Morbius deciding to embrace his identity and flying away to… somewhere. After Morbius‘ poor performance, it is unlikely we’ll get a Morbius 2, but the ending does leave the door open to further development, with two vampires still on the loose.
